Best of the best according to Amazon. When will I ever read them?
Amazon just sent out their 10 best books of 2012. They actually have a top 100, but this site http://shelf-life.ew.com/2012/11/12/amazon-best-of-2012/?hpt=hp_t3, has the top 10.
I think every author would love to have their book put onto a top 100 of Amazon, let alone a top 10! I took a look at the list and there were some surprises.
First off, I was surprised by how many of the books I actually knew.
Secondly, I was surprised by how many of the books I had not even heard of.
I would say I need to get out more, but really, I need to stay in more and curl up with a good book.
As a busy mother and career woman, who writes on the side, it’s hard to find a moment to myself. I have a list of 12 movies I want to see right now. One is no longer playing, two are still out, and the other 9 are coming out before Dec 31st. I’ll probably see none of them.
The stack of books on my nightstand (and the virtual stack on my Kindle) just keeps growing. My father is reading book #4 in Amazon’s list. I’ll probably ask him what he thought of it and see if he would recommend it to me. Even if he tells me it’s the best book in the world, I still have a good dozen books waiting before I could get to it.
But in the long run I choose to look at my long list of books that I haven’t read as a blessing. I will never run out of something to read. 🙂
