Personal Summer of Love story by author Regina Morris I’ve only been in love once, and that is to my husband of the last 19 years. But I do remember the first summer we were dating. Being young teenagers in college, we had youth and very little responsibilities on our hands. I had visited my parents, who were living in another state, for the first few weeks of the summer while Andrew was attending the first summer session of college. We were both freshmen at the University of Texas in Austin, and he was getting ahead in some of his classes. When I returned, the second summer session had began but neither of us attended that one — which left us completely free of anything to do for a good five weeks. My husband, then boyfriend, taught me how to swim during this time. Having lived in Germany and in Omaha Nebraska, I had very little opportunity or desire to learn such a past time. He was determined to teach me even though I really did not enjoy the water. After all, how can you live in the heat of Texas and never take a dip in a pool? We had no money, so there were no day trips or expensive dinners. We would meet for lunch and usually eat Ramon noodle soup, swim all afternoon, watch rented movies or perhaps even go to the $1 theaters for a big date night. I think our evenings usually ended about 2am since we had no where to be and no one to see the next morning. The next day, we’d do it all over again. The carefree times of yesterday seems such a lifetime ago. With careers, two children, two puppies, a mortgage and my writing … life seems ultra busy, filled with so many responsibilities. It’s nice to think of a time when I was young and falling in love with not a care in the world. 🙂 Giveaway by Regina Morris My novella, “William’s Tale”, will be out the end of June. a Rafflecopter giveaway

Welcome to the WRITING PROCESS BLOG HOP next stop! My name is Regina Morris and I write a paranormal romance series called the COLONY, which is about a group of sexy vampires who protect the President. The novels offer some suspense and they are humorously written (not political thrillers, but nice romances with each book featuring a different team member). My Writing Process So, big thanks to fellow YAFFer Amy Laura Jackson, for inviting me to be part of the My Writing Process Blog Tour. She posted her answers to the following questions last week. You can read her information here. What are you working on? Lot’s of things. I’m finishing a novella entitled “William’s Tale” which will be available next month. I’m also editing my fourth novel “Reliant Service” which is being released in September. I’m very active on my FB fan page and will be hosting some “Meet the Author” FB parties and live conference calls in the very near future. How does your work differ from others of its genre? My vampires can alter their age based upon how much human blood they consume. It’s perfect for a group of vampires who protect the President since they can alter their identities and work in the same field/office for centuries this way. Also, I have placed my vampires in our world. They work in the best known house in America – the White House. There is suspense, there is some humor, and of course dynamite hot sex scenes. Why do you write what you do? I write in this genre because I love reading this genre. My favorite authors are Kerrelyn Sparks, Lynsay Sands and JR Ward. I’ve been told I write similarly to these ladies. 🙂 How does your writing process work? I usually see a scene in my head that I either think is very funny, sexy, or just an awkward situation that a vampire would find themselves in. I also listen to a lot of music for inspiration. My fourth novel was inspired by the lyrics of Queens song “Another One Bites the Dust.” In particular the passage, “Out of the doorway the bullets rip.” I thought to myself, what if I had a vampire takes a bullet to the face while protecting the President? He would hear the bullet enter the gun chamber BEFORE the shot was fired and would probably act before the shot. Would people think he’s in on a conspiracy? The shot is also caught on camera (thanks to the digital age) and the hit is very public and very deadly – at least it would be if the vampire were human. A vampire would survive, but he couldn’t do his job anymore. Would the vampire go through an identity crisis? Since my vampires age based upon their blood intake, what if the vampire was living his first life (allowing himself to age since his turn into a vampire) and he is reluctant to retire his real name, shift his age, and take on an alias? At the same time that I was thinking all of this, there was a lot of TV footage of Lindsay Lohan getting into a lot of trouble, which gave me the idea that my vampire, Daniel, would take a sabbatical and become a bodyguard for a young pop star traveling Europe. The story nearly wrote itself. 🙂 Want more? I’m very proud to announce next week’s blog hop participant. I’ve known author Nick Taylor for a while now and I love her novel The Spellbound Consortium. She’s been an avid reader all of her life and has just amazing stories to tell. If you haven’t yet discovered her, please take a look. You won’t be disappointed! Visit her here.
