Eternal Service is a fun and fascinating read. The quirky and clever plot revolves about a group of elite vampires who work in the Oval Office to protect the President of the United States. The group works in conjunction with a human liaison, the director of the Colony. It just so happens that the old chief is about to retire. Smart, gorgeous, and strong Alex Brennan is slated to be his replacement. Raymond is the head of the vampires — a true gentleman with a gentle soul. And so begins the exciting story and the start to the series. Eternal Service (The Colony) is Twilight for grown-ups with candlelit romance and a dash of erotica. There is also an underlying decency and humor to the story that one might not expect, but definitely appreciates, in an action-packed story featuring creatures who drink human blood to survive. Regina Morris is not only an excellent writer, but she conveys a wealth of details about the life and habits of her vampire subjects. She answers all of the questions that any of us who have ever read or thought about vampires might ask: What happens when a human and a vampire have a child together? How could a vampire ever live among humans? It is almost as if Ms. Morris took a sabbatical to live with the vampires and then took very careful and superbly entertaining notes. But that couldn’t be true, because there aren’t really vampires… are there? Read more here.

Eternal Service is the first in a long line of great books in this series. Get ready to laugh yourself sick. Vampires in the White House this could explain our budget problems.
I received a complimentary copy to read and review. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters she created. I liked the plot. Her view of vampires is great. I really liked how she interjects humor into her books. If you love paranormal romance mixed with a bit of humor then this book is for you. I recommend adding it to your TBR list. I look forward to reading more of Regina’s books.

Absolutely loved this book it was a great beginning to a new series. The concept behind Eternal Service is original and makes for a fun read. Morris, instead of using what has become the common mold for vampires added great new twists making for a much more interesting novel. The story line of a group of vampires working behind the scenes protecting the president is an idea I haven’t yet seen and the way it was written with such attention to detail made for a wonderful read. I couldn’t put it down! Also if you are one of those unsure of starting a new series before all the books are out based on my own research the next two in the series are about different characters introduced in this book. So don’t worry about an agonizing ending you have to wait to find out about in the next book. See more here.

First off, I was completely captivated by this book, right from the get-go. I caught myself smiling at uncontrollably throughout the book, at the relationship between Raymond and Alex. It’s a story of love, overcoming differences and I loved the twist given to the realm of vampires in this book; it’s different to others out there. Regina Morris makes it her own, and it’s refreshing. Her vampires can alter their age depending on how regularly they feed, meaning they can slowly live out a life just as a human; they can even give birth to vampire babies, which up until their Jahrling Year, are human. “Ignorance is bliss, but it can’t protect you.” In Eternal Service, we meet Raymond Metcalf, a 199 year old widowed vampire (who doesn’t look a day over 22) working for a secret government agency, The Colony. With his son, Sterling, born of a human mother and has one insatiable appetite for the company of women, his sister Sulie, the Colony Doctor, and along with a few other vampires, the Colony is tasked with guarding the President against rouge vampire threats. Over the years since his wife, Wilma’s death, he has shied away from any kind of relationship or companionship with women, instead choosing a celibate life Captain Alex Brennan is a career driven, strong woman. Her personal life has taken a back seat after a stalker attacked her three years back. Up until recently, she had not even dated and even at that the handful of men she did go on a date with never matched up to the perfect man, “Butch Manly” whom she concocted in her imagination. It is because of her job and dedication that she crosses paths with Raymond. She had been offered a promotion to the position of the Director of the Colony, replacing Raymond’s boss (and only human friend) for the past three decades Dixon, as he’s retiring. If accepted, she would be working closely with Raymond, who she says “exuded her ideal man.” With the pressures of deciding on whether to accept the position, Raymond is assigned the job of answering any questions Alex has about the Colony and helping her adjust to the fact that now she is aware that vampires exist and would be the liaison between them and the President. Their feelings for each other start to rise to the top but with misunderstandings and a demanding work schedule is it really a good idea to “fish off the company pier”? With their lives taking over and their feelings taking a back seat, it was exciting to read of their near-miss rendezvous’, and when they manage to synchronise their schedules ……. it’s exciting, sexy, hot and did I mention HOT?! The Colony is working tirelessly keeping a watchful eye over the President and the White House when something happens, something which sets wheels in motion that could spell disaster for all involved. Action, suspense, life-threatening danger and death ensue. Will the heart win out over the head? Will love trump Alex’s career? After the dust has settled, will there be anyone left to love? I loved every minute of this book and what’s even better is that there are more to come!! Definitely a 5 Star book and a must read! Read more

“I am loving this book! Finally a twist on the ever-popular paranormal romance set… although I love those too… this book adds a realistic factor not found in most others, in that this takes place in “our” world, rather than “their” world. The characters are thoughtful and well-developed, the storyline is addicting, and the whole package is just plain fun. Can’t wait for the next installment!” See more here.
