Items I recommend to take if doing a book signing

I just did a book signing and wanted to jot down what I took so that I’d have the list for furture signings, plus it may help out other authors.

1) books to sign (naturually)
2) display stand(s) so you can prop your book(s) up
3) giant standing display about the books to catch peoples’ eyes
4) pens
5) gum or mints for your breath
6) business cards
7) pre-signed bookmarks (or other swag)
8) iphone with credit card reader already set up
9) sign made (and propped up) of any award or top book list you’ve been on
10) sign made (and propped up) with the cost of the book. I just did a signing and to buy both my books at Amazon was $22.98+tax+s/h. For a signed book at the signing (since they were buying from me) the cost was $15 for a signed book which included tax. People like knowing they’re getting a deal.
11) bottle of water for you
12) cash so you can make change
