Juggling many hats as an author
When people think what the life of an author must be like, they mentally see us in front of our computers typing all day. Perhaps I had this same vision when I started writing as well.
That is as fictitious as the novels I write. 😉
I’m right now juggling between 4 of my novels!
My first novel, “Eternal Service”, is out in print. I now have fans on my facebook page, reviews coming in, and I’m trying to get as much publicity out on it as I can.
Novel #2, “United Service”, has come back from my line editor. I’m trying to put in all of her suggested changes. It’s tedious, but very important. She hand edits a printout, so I have to manually put in the changes to my Word doc. I’m a control freak. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Book #3, “Enduring Service”, is ready for my content editor, but I’m holding off on it. The number of words is light and I really want to beef-up a minor character’s role.
Book #4, “Reliant Service”, is about 40% written.
Toss on the amount of time I am on my LinkedIn groups talking with other writers, posting on my blog, working on book covers, and researching other story lines, and I’m being spread too thin.
So, do I sit and type all day? Sure, if you want to count typing in URLs and such. Overall, I wish I could just write my books all day long. Since I am my own publisher and public relations expert, writing is just a small part of what I do. But, it is the most fun! 🙂
